SEAWORLD ORLANDO OPENS ALL-NEW TURTLETREK – FIRST 3D 360 DEGREE DOME THEATER EXPERIENCE.

orlando_seworld_turtle_tank_3D
All-new attraction and incredible values and offers make
SeaWorld Orlando a must-see for locals and residents

Orlando, FL (April 27, 2012) – SeaWorld Orlando Just Open a new attraction,  TurtleTrek – the only attraction of its kind in the world – plus amazing admission offers and values, makes the park a must-see for locals and residents.

New adventures at TurtleTrek:

orlando_seworld_turtle_tankTurtleTrek, SeaWorld Orlando’s newest attraction, comes to life with SeaWorld’s unique blend of up-close encounters with manatees and sea turtles and state-of-the art entertainment, making for a real adventure and a first-of-its-kind 3D 360 degree dome theater film that is completely surrounding and immersive.

Guests first visit two massive naturalistic habitats, home to gentle manatees and gliding sea turtles, learning what makes each species so precious. Families then enter a domed theater and what happens next has never before been seen and is a first at any theme park in the world.

Inside the dome, they’ll be surrounded by a hyper-realistic, 3D 360 degree film that takes them on the amazing life journey of a special sea turtle named Nyah. The experience is all around guests and even above them – not just in front of them or only on one screen. It’s this all-new and immersive way of showcasing a sea turtle’s epic adventure that is the heart of TurtleTrek. And for the first time, SeaWorld Orlando guests are given a turtle’s eye view of the ocean’s wonders.

TurtleTrek is as inspirational as it is astounding. There’s a call-to-action at the end of the experience:  SeaWorld urges guests to join in conserving the world we share. “Do a little, do a lot, but join us and do something to help the world and its animals,” said Brian Morrow, the attraction’s chief designer. “TurtleTrek is about the everyday heroes who can make a difference in nature.”

And there’s even more at TurtleTrek: Families will love competing on the fun (and educational) “Race for the Beach” video game that plays out on massive video screens at the new attraction. And TurtleTrek’s gift shop is unique in the way it continues the attraction’s inspiration and guests will see exactly how a portion of each dollar spent benefits in-the-field research to help save animals.

Starting at TurtleTrek, SeaWorld and all its parks are eliminating plastic gift bags within the next year. SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment will be the largest theme park operator to make this commitment.  The eco-friendly move will save an estimated 4 million plastic bags per year from both entering landfills and impacting wildlife. SeaWorld routinely rescues marine wildlife such as endangered sea turtles that sometimes mistake plastic bags for a favorite food such as jellyfish.

Pay for a day, play all year with a SeaWorld Fun Card

For residents and locals, the best way to experience TurtleTrek again and again is with a Fun Card or annual pass. Each provides unlimited visits to SeaWorld Orlando and all the park’s special events and festivals including Halloween Spooktacular and SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration. Stranded melon-headed whale being cared for by SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld Orlando Whale

Brant Gabriel, from SeaWorld’s animal rescue team, cares for Dante, a juvenile melon-headed whale that was found stranded on a west Florida beach on October 23. The whale was rescued by Mote Marine Laboratory and had been receiving urgent attention before being transported to SeaWorld Orlando’s Cetacean Rehabilitation Facility on Friday, October 28, 2011. Experts are cautious about the animal’s prognosis.  SeaWorld’s animal care team is on call 24/7 to rescue injured, orphaned or ill marine mammals.

An animal rescue team from SeaWorld Orlando is working with experts from Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, Fla., transported a juvenile melon-headed whale from Mote Marine Laboratory’s Dolphin and Whale Hospital to SeaWorld’s Cetacean Rehabilitation Facility where it will receive long-term care.

The whale was found stranded on Manasota Key, on the west coast of Florida, on October 23. Mote staff and volunteers provided medical care and support for the whale during the most critical time period following its stranding. The whale, nicknamed Dante by Mote staff, received around-the-clock medical care at Mote, which stabilized its condition and allowed veterinarians to begin treating the animal for pneumonia and gastroenteritis.

Once the animal was stabilized — and with the approval of the federal agency that oversees the care and protection of marine mammals — Dante was transferred today to SeaWorld Orlando, which has a new pool and larger facilities required to support Dante’s need for longer-term rehabilitation.

The whale – about six and a half feet long – seemed comfortable after the trip and was acclimating to his new pool. SeaWorld vets will take blood samples and staff will monitor the young whale. The park’s experts are cautious about the animal’s prognosis but credit the animal’s good condition to the quality of urgent care received at Mote.

Melon-headed whales are normally found in deep, tropical waters including the Gulf of Mexico. Adult melon-headed whales can grown to nearly 10 feet in length and more than 400 lbs.

It is unknown why this whale stranded.

SeaWorld Orlando’s Animal Rescue Team releases loggerhead sea turtle

(November 21, 2011) — Animal care experts from SeaWorld Orlando released an adult loggerhead sea turtle this morning at Lori Wilson Park just south of Cocoa Beach. The turtle was rescued on March 14, 2011 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station by park personal and brought to SeaWorld Orlando for treatment.  The turtle is approximately 20 yrs. old, 150 lbs. and is 2 feet and 4 inches long.

When the turtle arrived at SeaWorld it was emaciated, covered in barnacles and was unable to eat on its own.  Suffering from pneumonia, the turtle received antibiotics and was tube fed to provide valuable nutrition and was soon eating on its own.

The turtle was tagged prior to its release for future monitoring.
For 45 years, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment has helped animals in need — ill, injured and orphaned.  More than 20,000 animals have been rescued by our experts, and most of those animals are successfully treated and returned to the wild.
SeaWorld’s animal rescue team is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

SeaWorld Orlando Announces the Future : Antarctica – Empire of the Penguin

SeaWorld Antartica Orlando Florida

New attractions sure to top Orlando’s “must-see” list for 2012 and 2013

  • SeaWorld Orlando announces its 2012 and 2013 new attractions
  • New experience also opening at Discovery Cove in 2012

ORLANDO, Fla. — With three astounding new attractions featuring all-new ways to connect guests to the mysteries of the sea, SeaWorld Orlando and Discovery Cove are once again sure to top the “must-see” list for upcoming Orlando vacations.

SeaWorld designers just announced new experiences to open in 2012 at SeaWorld Orlando and Discovery Cove, and released a few details of a massive expansion set to debut at SeaWorld in 2013. Discovery Cove is a swim-with-dolphins resort across the street from SeaWorld in Orlando.

The new attractions represent the biggest attraction expansions in the history of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, the parks’ parent company.

SeaWorld antartica pinguin

Antarctica – Empire of the Penguin is SeaWorld Orlando’s single biggest attraction expansion ever.  What’s part of this huge undertaking?

It’s not only where SeaWorld will be taking guests in 2013 – to the bottom of the world, Antarctica – it’s also how SeaWorld takes guests there and what animals will be encountered during the journey.

Details are few – the attraction is as mysterious as the continent – but here are a few

icebergs of information.

  •  For years, SeaWorld Orlando has taken guests on priceless journeys of adventure. In each case, the park opens a window to the amazing underwater world guests can’t experience on their own.
  • Antarctica – the continent – is largely unexplored. The land locked under 9,000 feet of ice is not owned or claimed by any one country. The weather is always changing and more than always harsh. Much of the water surrounding the continent is just above freezing.  Yet this land at the bottom of the world is home to some of the most amazing animals in the world. Antarctica is the empire of the penguin.

What makes SeaWorld’s Antarctica so unique?

  • Guests will be surrounded by the sights, sounds and awesome encounters found in this frozen land, embarking on a one-of-a-kind ride and an incredible family adventure.

They’ll experience the mystery and wonder of Antarctic life on the ice through the eyes of a penguin, sensing the beauty and drama of their sometimes-dangerous habitat. SeaWorld’s Antarctica combines closer-then-ever animal connections with state-of-the-art interactive ride technologies for adventures that are different each time.

Turtle Oasis Orlando Florida

TurtleTrek

While creating TurtleTrek (opening at SeaWorld Orlando in spring 2012), designers stayed true to SeaWorld’s unique blend of nose-to-nose animal encounters and state-of-the art entertainment.

Guests first visit two massive naturalistic habitats, one filled with hundreds of freshwater fish and gentle manatees, the other home to more than 1,500 saltwater fish and more than a dozen sea turtles.  Many of the manatees and sea turtles were rescued by the park’s animal team.  Since SeaWorld Orlando’s rescue programs began, the team has cared for and returned to the wild nearly 240 manatees and more than 1,200 sea turtles.

Freshwater Oasis

Just across the street from SeaWorld Orlando is Discovery Cove, a limited-admission, all-inclusive tropical resort where guests swim with dolphins, hand-feed tropical birds in a free-flight aviary, snorkel among thousands of colorful fish and rays and relax on pristine beaches.

Opening at Discovery Cove in spring 2012 is Freshwater Oasis, an all-new attraction featuring swimming and wading adventures and face-to-face encounters with playful otters and curious marmosets.
