Sea World & The Polar Express

seaworlds_polar_express_christmas_time_2

This holiday season, guests are invited to jump aboard The Polar Express Experience at Sea World Orlando for a magical trip to the North Pole. Debuting Nov. 14th through Jan. 4th 2009, Orlando SeaWorld’s Wild Arctic transforms into a thrilling expedition to the fabled Santa Town.

The Polar Express Experience is based on the film from Warner Bros. Pictures and Shangri-La Entertainment, inspired by the beloved Caldecott Medal children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg.

This heartwarming adventure begins with a three-minute preshow telling the story of a young boy lying awake on Christmas Eve, just before midnight. Straining to listen for the elusive sound of ringing bells aboard Santa’s sleigh, the boy is jolted out of bed from the thunderous roar of The Polar Express arriving to take him on a fascinating adventure to the North Pole. Guests then embark upon that same adventure as they board Sea World’s Polar Express Experience. Recreating classic scenes from the movie in a multi-sensory experience, The Polar Express Experience immerses guests with lighting, scent, sound and motion to transport them to the North Pole … and into the spirit of the season.

When guests arrive at their destination, they step off the train and into the movie itself. Temperatures drop and holiday spirits soar as the travelers arrive at the frozen North Pole, complete with a towering Christmas tree, gift-laden sleigh, village decor and Santa Claus himself. The journey continues as guests also encounter other inhabitants of the North Pole — the animals themselves — including graceful Beluga Whales, powerful Polar Bears and Giant Walruses.

The Indy Racing Experience coming to Disney World

The Indy Racing Experience is opening at Walt Disney World Orlando on November 17th.

Guests will be able to either drive the custom two seat Indy car or ride in the backseat around the one mile paved Walt Disney World Speedway oval track.

Co-owner of the Indy Racing Experience Scott Jasek stated “Since we first began the Indy Racing Experience (2001), fans have traveled the globe to feel firsthand what it is like to race around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway – the Racing Capital of the World. Millions of people also descend on the Orlando area annually for its renowned attractions, including Walt Disney World, so we feel our Indy Racing Experience is both a unique and fitting addition to this exciting landscape.’

Disney’s track hosted the Indy Racing League’s Indy 200 from 1996-2000. Davey Hamilton, who was part of the opening ceremonies for the Disney racing series, will be a driver for this new experience. Hamilton commented “The Walt Disney World Speedway in Orlando Florida was actually home to my first IndyCar Series race, so obviously that track is special to me and I’m anxious to get back there. Disney is a unique design that is different from any other track out there. It’s not your typical oval or tri-oval; the corner banking and elevation change in the back makes this track a thrill to drive.”

Both the Richard Petty Driving Experience and Indy Racing Experience will be sharing the track on a first come, first serve basis. Drivers are required to be at at least 18 years old.
